Shilpa Amin is my mother’ nutritionist. My mother is in her 80’s. Shilpa got to know my mother, her daily routine and food preferences and then suggested a diet for her. She explained the way in which the diet would help, and encouraged my mother through the process. Shilpa helped by giving recommendations on where we could source special items like sugar free chocolates and supplements. Even several months after our engagement with Shilpa, she generously helped again by identifying alternate sources of supplements. While many diets I have followed helped me lose weight I was finding that the “lost” weight kept creeping back. Over a six month period with Shilpa I lost weight but her emphasis on focusing on fat loss and overall fitness rather than just weight loss helped in two ways. First, I have not put any of the lost weight over six months now and, equally important, because much of the weight loss was fat loss, I have a much leaner look now. And my energy levels are high for running and weight lifting. I found interacting with Shilpa very interesting and have been impressed with how much understanding she has of nutrition and body metabolism. I am generally sceptical of health tips that are not based on sound science and I was impressed with how well she understood the science behind her recommendations. During the course of over a year I tried out various diets — keto, vegan and eggetarian — and whatever I preferred she was happy to support and help and never had the attitude “only this will work”. I found that very helpful and it was always a pleasure to talk to Shilpa about the science of weight loss. Talking to her was more like talking to a knowledgeable friend than a nutritionist. Last, but not the least, she has also been an amazing source of information about the best sources of things like tofu, sugar free ice cream etc !
My journey with fitness has been a long road and so has getting my food right as well. And that's where Shilpa and her expertise helped me build better habits with food. One of the finest Nutritionist I’ve come across. When I joined her, I told her I’m a foodie, I had No Will power & I don’t think I’ll loose any weight, but, Voila … she’s a magician.
