We had a lifetime experience with the whole team of The Sanctum. The Midwifery model of care is so unique in its approach. Awareness must spread in India regarding this. Here, mothers are treated with so much respect and empathy which empowers the womanhood. All the details related to pregnancy journey are discussed in an elaborate way and the team make it a point to curb all the myths around pregnancy, say, eating for two people, keep rest throughout, no intercourse, etc. The team tells you logical points and plans to make your pregnancy as beautiful as it could be. As much as they promote natural birth, they also do inform you that C-sections in case of emergency or complication will remain an option at the end and that it is meant for the good health of mother and baby. They do have a back up support gynaecologist and obstetrician in case needed. Water birth in India is not known much, and here, majority babies are born in water. With great support, mothers are prepared physically and mentally to face the D-day. Visit the birth centre for the wonderful pregnancy journey which includes detailed antenatal checkups (once every month till 20th week --> twice a month till week 36 --> weekly till labour starts), limited scans, limited tests, prenatal yoga (anytime post week 12 or 16), lamaze sessions (anytime post week 20), prenatal aerobics (post week 36), pregnancy photoshoot, postpartum support, diet counselling, lactation support. All they do care about is the health of mother and baby. Healthy mother team lives up to its name thus.
Today I visited healthy mother sanctum and met Ms vijaya Krishnan and Ms Crystal. It was 6 years back that I delivered my son amongst the warm people and friendly space at healthy- mother sanctum. Today the memory is as fresh I saw the revamped environment they have built with so much love. I have bf my son for 3 years and I have to say it was only because of this wonderful group , where I found answers to all my queries. I have directed so many mother's to benefit from this group too. Today dearest friend was in a situation where i could be of very little help. I immediately reached out to vijaya Krishnan and how wonderful it was seeing her taking up my friend and transforming her into this confident mother walking her through her super powers one more time . I strongly feel it is our super power to be able to transform a little child into empathetic and loving individual because of this bond we share with them. This , as we joked needs a mention on our resume. If a woman can deliver and transform a baby to strong man. She needs no other validation on her abilities. This journey itself is living example of how strong and complete she is. My , dear friend, shared with me , her first accomplishment of pumped milk and I am sure this must have brought her the joy which will only multiply in days to come. I am very proud of you, Deepthi. And I can't thank you enough for this. I thought if I can't walk my friend through the path I did which was life transforming for me , my presence in her life was meaningless.
