From the very beginning of our pregnancy through newborn checkups and postpartum care, we received nothing but the best care from AABC North. My wife, the non-carrying parent, was consistently included and respected as an equal parent, which is something we quickly realized is rare during pregnancy, even in many LGBT “friendly” spaces. The self-pay option was another huge relief since I haven’t been able to get health insurance. It was transparent and predictable; most routine care was bundled into one clear cost paid monthly, and the non-routine care that we needed a few times was very reasonable and clearly communicated from the very beginning. The midwives, assistants, and office staff are all incredible—skilled, knowledgeable, and they deeply care. They completely changed my perception of what healthcare can be in its best form. I was never rushed, always listened to, and always treated as a whole person, even when I came with a huge list of questions and concerns a couple of times that took us well past the scheduled appointment time. I could call day or night and get an immediate answer with no judgement or hassle, which I did when I got Covid and had a fever (they answered my questions, gave instructions, and prescribed Paxlovid), when we noticed reduced fetal activity (they got us in for a NST immediately), and then several times postpartum because having a newborn is just confusing sometimes. Our birth experience was truly the best, most special and surreal day of my life—far better than I ever could have imagined. The tub alone was a total game changer, but what I’ll remember most is the care from the midwives and the way we got to bring our baby into the world in such a calm, peaceful, joyful, celebratory way that felt exactly like us. Granted, I had a fast and uncomplicated labor (save for the tearing), but I left feeling like it was no big deal at all. Extraordinary and empowering, but not at all like a “medical event,” although I would completely trust them if it had been more of a medical event. Everything since birth has been just as good—bringing our baby back to the same people who cared for us all pregnancy and receiving postpartum care alongside every newborn visit (I can’t imagine having to wait six weeks for that). We love every single staff member and loved getting to “show off our baby” at each appointment, as my wife says. We’re past the first six weeks now so we do actually have to transfer to a pediatrician, but we are SO grateful for our entire experience and we will definitely be back for the next time.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at AABC. From our very first visit through the birth of our daughter and into postpartum care, we felt completely supported, cared for, and genuinely seen. Every member of the team was warm, knowledgeable, and compassionate — they took the time to answer every question, calm every worry, and celebrate every milestone with us. The environment was peaceful, empowering, and beautifully designed to make us feel at home rather than in a medical setting. During labor and delivery, our midwife Sarah & her birth assistant Kairyh, went above and beyond to create a calm, encouraging atmosphere. We felt safe, confident, and respected in every decision. It was such a positive, transformative experience that we’ll cherish forever. Even after our baby arrived, the postpartum support was incredible — from lactation guidance to emotional check-ins, they truly cared about our whole family’s wellbeing. We’re endlessly grateful for the team at AABC and can’t imagine having gone through this journey anywhere else. If you’re looking for a place that combines expert care with genuine heart, this is it. ❤️

As someone whose delivery ultimately ended up at the hospital, I still could not recommend AABC more!!! For prenatal care they were always on time for appointments yet never made me feel rushed at all when I was in mine. The midwives listen well and do a great job helping educate you through the process. They also were quick to respond to questions in the portal that I forgot to ask in my appointments. I enjoyed how they schedule you with different midwives so that way when it comes to delivery day you’ve likely already met whatever midwife is on shift! As far as delivery, it was a continuation of the same personal, intentional approach to care. I labored mostly at home, then came to the birthing center when things got much more serious. The birthing suites are amazing and having 1:1 care was so nice. The best word I could use to describe my time at the birthing center was peaceful. Of course it was hard and things at times were scary but in general there was a peacefulness that resided over it all. After a number of hours and trying every method we could at the birthing center, my body and the baby ultimately needed additional support and we made the decision to transfer to the hospital. The midwife handled all the behind the scenes details so we could be admitted quickly and smoothly at St. David’s North. She came to the hospital with us and stayed for a period of time to help my transition to a new care team go smoothly. She made sure they were aware of the details of my labor thus far and answered our questions as well. Overall, the transfer went really well and we felt so taken care of by both the midwife and the birthing team at St. David’s North. Even though my birth turned out different than I would have preferred, I still look back on it so thankful for all the care I got at the birthing center!! I also did all of my follow up postpartum care at the birthing center and that was great too! I truly couldn’t recommend AABC more and am so thankful to have been in their care for my first pregnancy!

I absolutely love everything about this place, from the staff to the facility and just the whole process. I went to an OB for the first half of my pregnancy due to insurance. When I made the switch it made the OB I seen seem a bit unprofessional. His office would have me pee in a cup that was a tiny paper Dixie cup with my name wrote on it, also going out from the midwife that that Dr. didn't even deliver anymore it already has only done a couple c sections in the last 5 years. The midwives made me feel way better and would answer any of my questions even when I was unsure and a little uncomfortable since this was my first the word things your body does. Also they were very on top of things if there was any sign of something possibly not with they were checking for any signs before there was an emergency. Also during my labor they were great and encouraging. And I now have an amazing beautiful baby girl that is thriving.

We are so grateful to AABC. I did the centering program and met some wonderful people there. I also cannot say enough good things about their wonderful midwives. My labor was 48 hours (first 17 was early labor that I was able to do other things through), but they supported me in moving things along naturally (changing positions, pumping and herbs). In the end, we had such a wonderful water birth. Such a beautiful space and beautiful people (everyone who works there is so kind and supportive). As general info for others, I have BCBS and they process the birthing center differently than a hospital so unfortunately we didn’t meet our deductible, but I wouldn’t change it for anything. So worth it to give birth there and have a team of people advocating for you.
