This was my first pregnancy, and I’m so happy I decided to use Midwifery Services of Durham. I was lucky to have Team 4 (Alison and Sanaz). Both were very kind, knowledgeable, and attentive to my needs from the beginning. Alison was present for the entire birth and provided exceptional care, especially when complications arose. She truly went above and beyond to ensure we were safe and cared for. Sanaz did a home visit a few days after birth. She provided education, and encouragement when I was having trouble breastfeeding. My son and I are both doing great now. We just got discharged 6 weeks postpartum, it feels like the end of an era. I am very grateful and will definitely be back. Thank you so much!
I had an amazing experience with Alison and Sanaz as my midwives. They are knowledgeable, experienced, compassionate and supportive. I truly felt cared for by them. After having a challenging first birth (at a different hospital and different midwifery practice), I was nervous about how my second experience would go. Alison and Sanaz made me feel so comfortable and at ease. Unfortunately, I ended up having to transfer to OB care due to medical concerns. But they both took the time to explain the risks and benefits to me and took all of the extra precautions and tests when it came to the health of myself and my son. Despite the transfer of care I was able to continue meeting with them up until my birth then resume care with them postpartum (which I was grateful for). The biggest surprise was that Alison still showed up to my birth and even helped deliver my son alongside the OB. Having her there meant so much as she went above and beyond to make my experience smooth. I can confidently say my second birth was not only 1000x better than my first, but that it was actually a beautiful and positive experience. Thank you Alison and Sanaz for being so incredible throughout this process!!! I will definitely be recommending you :)
I can’t say enough wonderful things about Durham Midwives. We had team Maddie and Connie and they were incredibly attentive, compassionate, and deeply respectful of every choice we made during labour and birth. They took the time to explain all of our options clearly, supported our birth plan fully, and never made us feel rushed or pressured. Their care didn’t stop after delivery either — they continued to check in, offering thoughtful guidance and reassurance through those first few newborn weeks (Extra kudos to Connie as her calming presence during my wife's labour made her feel safe and empowered). It honestly upsets me that programs like this are so underfunded by the government. Midwives provide such essential, personalized care and play a vital role in the health and well-being of families and communities. They deserve far more support and recognition for the life-changing work they do. If you’re considering midwifery care, I can’t recommend Durham midwives enough — they truly go above and beyond.
I had the pleasure of working with Alison & Sanaz during my pregnancy. They both were very kind and attentive to my needs ands walked me through the process. Alison primarily took care of us during my pregnancy and delivery and was very happy with her services overall and she addressed my concerns in a timely fashion. Would highly reccomend Midwifery Services of Durham especially my post-op care for myself and baby put me at ease. Thank you again for taking care of my family for our first pregnancy. This was our first experience with a midwife, and it was absolutely amazing. Maddie and Connie were incredible, so kind, informative, and supportive throughout. We would definitely choose them again if we decide to have more kids.
